HEALTH CARE

The slum around was thriving with disease, malnutrition, vices,illiteracy and unemployment. There was lack of water supply,no sanitary facilities, lack of health services etc. 1969: A dispensary was started by Irene Lobo and Crispina. Three general practitioners and a gynecologist began visiting the dispensary regularly.

COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE

Our dispensary in the centre continues. We have a doctor who visits us every week. In addition, we have had the mobile clinic here on many occasions which was of great help to the local people. We had a medical checkup for the children in the crèche, followed by a healthy baby contest. The children were found healthy and active. The Bombay Hospital Nurses visit the communities in the areas. Many in the communities, profit by the advice and care provided by the nurses. The polio pulse vaccine is also administered in the centre to children once in 2 months. Polio sessions was conducted by the Health post of BMC

HEALTH CAMPS AND HEALTH WORKERS TRAINING

Health workers training is conducted every once a month, where Preventive and holistic health topics are covered . This activity is conducted in Collaboration with Health Promotion Trust . After two years the members are well equip with the knowledge and practice thus they are awarded with Certificates. Currently the total number of health workers are 25.

General Health check up, eye camp are conducted every year , in collaboration with Rotary club, Bhramakumaris (L&T)and Midways. this year 145 people attended the camp.

NIRMALA NIWAS CLINIC

The clinic was started from the beginning for the center’s work, according to the needs of the people. Every week Dr. Audrey Rodricks takes care of the patients.Different doctors come to visit and nurses are in the clinic. Activities performed include yoga, exercises , blood test for Diabetics every month. Health checkups etc.
